Proverbs
3:9-10 ~ Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the first
fruits of all your crops; then your barns will be filled to
overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.
At Wertz & Company, we care about the community
in which we work and look to make a difference in the lives of people
facing special challenges. Our involvement includes many different
charitable endeavors, a few of which are highlighted below.
 |
Wertz & Company participates in Camp Pendleton’s
“Friends of the Family” Program, which supports Navy or Marine families
during Christmas. The program focuses upon junior enlisted
families with children who are temporarily stationed at Camp Pendleton,
who have no other family members around and who may have a member of
the family currently deployed. Last year, the employees of
W&C sponsored a family of six (Mom, Dad and four kids ages 8,
6, 3 and 8 months) by purchasing, wrapping and delivering a bundle of
Christmas gifts for each member of the family. It was our way
to express our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the armed forces
for all that they do to help protect our great country and to help
brighten the holidays for those families who are away from
home.
Wertz and Company is a participant of the Community ¢ents
program at A Charity for Charities has designated Families Forward and
Pediatric Cancer
Research to receive
financial support for their programs and services.
Families
Forward offers a comprehensive array of services targeting
families who are at-risk of becoming homeless. Some of the
supportive services include career and life-skills counseling, referral services,
transitional housing and food pantry.
Pediatric
Cancer Research focuses its efforts on
improving the quality of care, quality oflife and survival rate of
children with malignant diseases.
A Charity
for Charities educates the community about and raises
funds for other nonprofits through such programs as "Lending a Helping
Hand" and "Community ¢ents".
For several years, the employees of Wertz &
Company have participated in the annual “Lee National Denim Day”, which
raises funds for the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
Our employees, through their support and generous donations not only
contribute to the funding of research, education, screening and
treatment programs, but they get to wear jeans to work as a special
“thank you” for caring!

Wertz & Company financially
supports Crossroads for Kids, a non-profit organization
created to provide financial assistance through education and
other types of support to "at need" children. "At need" kids
are those children who, through no fault of their own, are placed
in at risk situations due to circumstances that
befall their families such as illness, divorce, drug dependency, and
spousal abuse. This organization solicits its financial aid
candidates via the recommendations of local school principals and/or
teachers who are aware of such special needs. All of the
annual funding for this organization comes from local business
entities as a result of board member
contacts. Mr. Wertz is one of the founding board
members of Crossroads.

For several years, Wertz & Company has
underwritten the annual tuition and related supplemental costs
for two students to attend JSerra High School which is a
private, Christian four year high school located in San Juan
Capistrano, California. Mr. Wertz and his wife Donna are both
long term advocates of private Christian schooling and are one
of the founding families of this school. Through their
leadership, the JSerra Shepherds Program was created which raises
approximately $500,000 a year for financial aid
purposes.

Wertz & Company has also partnered with Pathway
School in San Juan Capistrano by financially supporting their efforts
to serve the academic needs of first through eighth grade students who
learn differently. The school is a unique learning community where
students, parents, and staff experience a friendly, relaxed, team
environment. At Pathway, students often experience for the first time
in their academic lives a comfortable classroom situation, free of the
threat of failure and humiliation.
